Product Overview

Mineral Source Potassium Fulvate Type II is extracted from leonardite, a young oxidized lignite rich in humic substances. It occupies a different point on the extraction spectrum from our Type I line: higher total humic acid (55% min), moderate fulvic acid (30% min), and a more accessible price per tonne. Same mine. Different balance.

Mineral Source Potassium Fulvate Powder II is the fine-mesh grade of our Type II line — 60–80 mesh black powder engineered for compound NPK blending, powdered soil conditioners, and any application where rapid wetting and even distribution matter.

At 60–80 mesh, this powder disappears into a MAP/DAP/urea blend just like Type I Powder does. The chemical difference sits in the assay: 30% fulvic acid and 55% humic acid (versus Type I’s 55/50 split). What you’re trading is some of that premium fulvic fraction — which drives fast leaf-response and micronutrient chelation — for a lower price point and a heavier dose of humic acid that builds soil structure over time.

If your product sits in a bag as a dry blended fertilizer, a powdered soil amendment, or an NPK coating, the humic-heavy profile of Type II Powder often makes more economic sense than paying for fulvic acid that won’t express itself until the material dissolves in soil moisture weeks later.

Key Benefits

60–80 mesh blends perfectly

Matches the particle-size band of MAP, DAP, and urea powders. No segregation in the blend, no sifting to the bottom of the pile.

55% humic acid — more than most competitors’ standard grade

When your label claim or formulation target is ‘high humic content’, Type II hits it with room to spare, usually at a lower cost than sourcing a separate humic concentrate.

99% soluble when it counts

Full solubility means once irrigation water or soil moisture hits it, everything goes into solution. No insoluble residue to clog emitters or leave grit in the tank.

Direct replacement path from Type I

If you’ve been using Type I Powder and your procurement team is pushing for cost reduction, Type II Powder is the first product to evaluate — same mesh, same handling, different assay, different invoice amount.

Form & Solubility

Form: free-flowing black powder, 60–80 mesh. Fine enough to disperse evenly through an NPK blend, coarse enough to keep dust manageable at the intake hopper.

In water: wets rapidly — the 60–80 mesh particle size gives it far more surface area than flakes, so it goes into solution faster if you have any agitation at all. In still water it will settle before dissolving completely; give it a stir.

Dust: expect some. This is a fine powder. Standard PPE (mask, goggles) and local extraction at the weighing station are recommended — same housekeeping as any 80-mesh material.

In the blend: excellent anti-segregation performance at this mesh size. The particles lock in between coarser NPK prills and stay put during transport and spreading.

Honest note: 60–80 mesh keeps dust down and meters cleanly, but it is still a powder — add it onto moving water, not into still water. If your line needs the absolute finest dispersion, ask us about Powder I at 80–100 mesh.

Type I grades (Powder I, Flakes I, Micro Granule I, Extruded Granules I, Sodium-Free Flakes I) run 50–55% fulvic acid with 50% humic acid — see the Type I range if fulvic acid content is your buying criterion.

Applications & Dosage

Powder II targets applications where fine particle size and blend uniformity matter:

ApplicationHow to useRate
Compound NPK / SSP / DAP blendingBlend at 2–8% into powdered or granular NPK formulations. The 60–80 mesh size prevents segregation.2–8% of blend
Powdered soil conditioner / amendmentMix with amino acids, bio-fertilizers, or other organics for a multi-functional dry amendment.5–20% of formulation
Coating for urea / NPK granulesApply as a humic coating layer in a coating drum. Powder adheres well to prill surfaces.1–3% coating rate
Suspension fertilizerHolds in suspension better than flakes due to finer particle size. Use with a good agitator.3–6% of suspension

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Type II Powder compare to Type I Powder chemically?

Type I Powder: 55% fulvic / 50% humic / 12% K₂O. Type II Powder: 30% fulvic / 55% humic / 10% K₂O. Same mesh (both 60–80 mesh range), same solubility (~99%). Type II gives you more humic acid per tonne at a lower price; Type I gives you more fulvic acid for rapid-action applications.

Which should I choose for foliar sprays?

For foliar programs where speed of uptake matters, Type I (55% fulvic) is the stronger choice — fulvic acid is the fraction that moves quickly through leaf tissue and chelates micronutrients. Type II can work in foliar blends, but you may need a slightly higher inclusion rate or a fulvic booster.

Is the 60–80 mesh fineness guaranteed?

We specify 60–80 mesh as the standard output from our milling line. If you need a tighter distribution (e.g., 95% through 80 mesh), tell us at enquiry stage — we can adjust the mill classification for volume orders.

Does it clump in the bag in summer?

Less than you’d expect — the shiny (oxidized) surface of Type II powder resists caking better than dull powders. That said, any 80-mesh material in a hot warehouse will eventually pick up moisture. Stack pallets off the floor, keep containers ventilated, and rotate stock FIFO.
