80–100 mesh black powder · 70% humic acid · 82% organic matter · low ash · oilfield & industrial

Product Overview

Insoluble Humic Acid Powder 70% is the top cut of our milled leonardite powder — the same seam and 80–100 mesh grind as the rest of the range, taken at the 70% humic-acid cut. It is dried, classified and bagged with no extraction and no chemical solubilisation, so the humic fraction stays in its native, water-insoluble form.

What makes the 70% cut different from the lower grades is not just the humic number — it is the low ash content. Ash is the inert mineral residue left after the organic fraction burns off, and in oilfield and industrial use it is a liability: in a drilling fluid it adds unwanted solids; in a humate salt it dilutes the active content. The 70% cut carries the least ash of the powder range, which is why it is the grade specified for oilfield drilling-fluid use, for sulfonated humate, and for other industrial humate applications.

Insoluble Humic Acid Powder 70% is the premium cut — bought where the analysis and the ash floor matter more than the price per tonne.

Key Benefits

Highest humic cut of the powder range

At 70% minimum humic acid and 82% minimum organic matter, this is the most concentrated insoluble powder we produce — the grade to specify when the humic number is the buying criterion.

Low ash — the property oilfield and industry pay for

Ash is inert mineral residue. In a drilling fluid it is unwanted solids; in a humate salt it dilutes active content. The 70% cut carries the least ash of the range, which is why it is the oilfield and industrial grade.

Drilling-fluid filter-loss reducer and mud conditioner

React or use directly as a freshwater drilling-fluid additive — reduces fluid loss and conditions the mud. Typical dosage 3–5% of the fluid system.

Feedstock for sulfonated and other humate salts

Sulfomethylate to sulfonated humate, or react with caustic to sodium/potassium humate, with the highest active content of the powder grades.

One seam, four cuts, one supplier

40%, 50%, 60% and 70% off the same mill. Hold one relationship while covering soil amendment through to oilfield specification.

Heavy metals below detection, every batch

Pb, As, Hg, Cd and Cr tested against GB 18877 and reported as not detected, with a batch-specific COA.

Form & Solubility

Form: dry black powder, 80–100 mesh, slightly damp to the touch (up to 25% natural moisture). Free-flowing but not fluid.

In water: insoluble. It does not dissolve and must not enter fertigation, drip lines or liquid tanks. In oilfield use it is applied to the mud system as a functional additive, not as a solution.

As an industrial feedstock: the low-ash, high-humic cut reacts cleanly to sodium/potassium humate and sulfonated humate, giving the highest active content of the powder grades.

In a dry blend: disperses well; expect dust control on the line.

Honest note: this is the premium cut — highest humic, lowest ash, specified for oilfield and industrial humates. If your use is soil or a bulk fertilizer, the 40% or 50% cut does the same soil job for far less money, and we will say so. The 70% cut earns its price only where the ash floor and humic number are the buying criteria.

Which insoluble grade fits your process?

Grade Form Humic acid Organic matter Size Best for
Humic Acid Powder 80–100 mesh powder 40–70% 70–82% 80–100 mesh Granulation feed, soil conditioner base, blending
Humic Acid Crystal 2–4 mm crystal 60% min 2–4 / 1–6 mm Direct soil application, premium organic blends
Humic Acid Granule 2–4 mm round granule 40% min 60% min 2–4 mm Bulk blending, broadcasting, organic fertilizer
Humic Acid Prills 2–4 mm high-hardness 40% min 60% min 2–4 mm Urea/blending, mechanical spreading, export
Microbial Humic Granule 2–4 mm inoculated 40% min 60% min 2–4 mm Bio-organic fertilizer, root-zone inoculation

All five grades come from the same leonardite seam and carry the same heavy-metal declaration (Pb, As, Hg, Cd, Cr all below detection, GB 18877). They differ in particle form and where they fit in your process — not in origin.

Applications & Dosage

Specified where the humic number and the ash floor decide the buy:

Application How to use Rate
Oilfield drilling fluid Freshwater drilling-fluid filter-loss reducer and mud conditioner. Applied to the mud system as a functional additive. 3 – 5% of fluid
Sulfonated humate production Sulfomethylate to sulfonated humate for drilling, water treatment and ceramic use. per process
Sodium / potassium humate feedstock React with caustic for the highest-active-content humate salts of the powder range. per process
Ceramic pug additive Used as a binder/plasticiser in ceramic bodies. per process
Water treatment Applied for heavy-metal binding in industrial wastewater treatment. per process
Premium soil & organic use Where a high humic claim is registered and the ash floor matters. 300–750 kg/ha

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the 70% cut used in oilfield rather than the lower grades?

Because of the ash floor. Ash is inert mineral residue; in a drilling fluid it is unwanted solids, and in a humate salt it dilutes active content. The 70% cut carries the least ash of the powder range, so it is the grade oilfield and industrial buyers specify. The lower grades are soil and fertilizer grades, not oilfield grades.

What does ‘low ash’ mean in the spec table?

Ash is the mineral residue left after the organic fraction is removed. We state it as ‘low’ because the value is grade-dependent and confirmed per batch on the COA rather than quoted as a single fixed number — ask for the COA of the exact cut you are ordering and we will state it.

Can I react this to sodium or potassium humate?

Yes, and it gives the highest active content of the powder grades because of the high humic cut and low ash. We can toll the reaction or supply the finished salt.

How does it differ from the 40/50/60% cuts?

Same seam and grind, different humic-acid cut — 40/50/60/70%. The 70% cut is the premium: highest humic, lowest ash, specified for oilfield and industrial humates. If you only need soil organic matter, the 40% cut is far cheaper and does the same job. Buy the cut your specification actually requires.
