Product Overview

Insoluble Humic Acid Powder 50% is the mid cut of our milled leonardite powder — the same seam and 80–100 mesh grind as the rest of the range, taken at the 50% humic-acid cut. It is dried, classified and bagged with no extraction and no chemical solubilisation, so the humic fraction stays in its native, water-insoluble form.

The 50% cut sits in the useful middle. For agriculture, it is enough humic acid to support a registered humic claim while staying economical for bulk blending and granulation. For industry, it is the natural feedstock for making humate salts: react it with caustic (NaOH, KOH) to produce sodium or potassium humate, or sulfomethylate it to make sulfonated humate for drilling-fluid and water-treatment use. You buy the raw humic acid here and do the reaction at your own plant, or have us toll it.

Insoluble Humic Acid Powder 50% is the grade most often specified both by fertilizer blenders and by humate-salt manufacturers who want to control their own chemistry.

Key Benefits

Enough humic acid for a registered claim

At 50% minimum, this cut supports a printed humic-acid claim on a fertilizer or soil-conditioner label — which the 40% cut cannot do — while staying well below the premium of the 60% and 70% grades.

The natural feedstock for humate salts

Reacted with NaOH or KOH it becomes sodium or potassium humate; sulfomethylated it becomes sulfonated humate for drilling and water treatment. Buying the raw 50% cut lets you run the reaction in-house or toll it, rather than paying for a finished salt.

65% organic matter alongside the humic fraction

Beyond the 50% humic acid, the material carries 65% minimum organic matter — a real soil-carbon contribution, not a trace additive.

80–100 mesh — blends and granulates cleanly

The grind disperses through dry blends without balling and wets evenly in a granulator, so it fits both fertilizer lines and humate-salt reactors.

One seam, four cuts, one supplier

40%, 50%, 60% and 70% come off the same mill. Hold one relationship while covering soil amendment, general agriculture and humate-salt production.

Heavy metals below detection, every batch

Pb, As, Hg, Cd and Cr tested against GB 18877 and reported as not detected, with a batch-specific COA.

Form & Solubility

Form: dry black powder, 80–100 mesh, slightly damp to the touch (up to 25% natural moisture). Free-flowing but not fluid.

In water: insoluble. It will not dissolve and must not go into fertigation, drip lines or liquid tanks — it blocks emitters and filters. For a soluble product use potassium humate or potassium fulvate.

As a humate-salt feedstock: the 80–100 mesh grind reacts evenly with caustic and wets uniformly in a sulfomethylation reactor, which is why processors prefer a consistent fine powder over coarser material.

In a dry blend or granulator: it disperses well and accepts binder evenly. Expect dust control on the line.

Honest note: the 50% cut is the middle of the range — enough for a humic claim and for making humate salts, but not the low-ash grade oilfield buyers want. If your use is drilling fluid or a high-purity humate salt, the 70% low-ash cut is the correct specification; if you only need organic matter, the 40% cut is cheaper. We will point you to the right one.

Which insoluble grade fits your process?

Grade Form Humic acid Organic matter Size Best for
Humic Acid Powder 80–100 mesh powder 40–70% 70–82% 80–100 mesh Granulation feed, soil conditioner base, blending
Humic Acid Crystal 2–4 mm crystal 60% min 2–4 / 1–6 mm Direct soil application, premium organic blends
Humic Acid Granule 2–4 mm round granule 40% min 60% min 2–4 mm Bulk blending, broadcasting, organic fertilizer
Humic Acid Prills 2–4 mm high-hardness 40% min 60% min 2–4 mm Urea/blending, mechanical spreading, export
Microbial Humic Granule 2–4 mm inoculated 40% min 60% min 2–4 mm Bio-organic fertilizer, root-zone inoculation

All five grades come from the same leonardite seam and carry the same heavy-metal declaration (Pb, As, Hg, Cd, Cr all below detection, GB 18877). They differ in particle form and where they fit in your process — not in origin.

Applications & Dosage

Split between agriculture and humate-salt production — both dry or react-in-plant:

Application How to use Rate
General agriculture & soil conditioning Blend or broadcast where a 50% humic claim is wanted. Incorporate to reach the root zone. 300–750 kg/ha
Granular / organic fertilizer Use as the humic component in a bagged fertilizer; the 50% cut supports a humic claim at moderate cost. 15–40% of formulation
Sodium / potassium humate feedstock React with NaOH or KOH to make water-soluble humate salts for agriculture and industry. per process
Sulfonated humate production Sulfomethylate to make sulfonated humate for drilling-fluid and water-treatment use. per process
Compound organic fertilizer Lift organic matter and humic acid to registered levels in an organic-mineral line. 10–30% of formulation
Composting and manure treatment Reduce nitrogen volatilisation and bind ammonia in the windrow. 2–5% by weight

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make sodium or potassium humate from this?

Yes — that is a primary use of the 50% cut. React it with caustic (NaOH for sodium humate, KOH for potassium humate) to get a water-soluble salt, or sulfomethylate it for drilling-fluid and water-treatment grades. We can toll the reaction or supply the finished salt separately.

Is 50% enough for a humic-acid claim on my label?

At 50% minimum it supports a humic-acid claim that the 40% cut cannot. If your claim is higher (60% or 70%), buy the corresponding grade. We will tell you the cheapest cut that meets your stated number.

Can I use it in fertigation or a liquid tank?

No. It is water-insoluble and will block lines and emitters. For soluble use, convert it to a humate salt or use our potassium humate / fulvate ranges.

How does it differ from the 40% and 70% cuts?

Same seam and grind, different humic-acid cut — 40% / 50% / 60% / 70%. The 50% cut is the middle: enough for a humic claim and for humate-salt feedstock, without the premium of the high cuts. Buy the lowest cut that meets your specification.
