Product Overview
Potassium Humate Flakes carry the same chemistry as our powder grade — 60% minimum humic acid, 10–12% K₂O, fully water soluble — but in a 2–4 mm flake instead of a 60–80 mesh powder.
The reason to choose flake over powder is handling. A fine humate powder generates dust: it hangs in the air, coats the line and the operator, and a meaningful fraction of it never reaches the tank. A 2–4 mm flake pours cleanly, produces effectively no dust, and is measurably easier to dose by hand or by machine. For a plant working through bags all day, that difference is not cosmetic — it shows up in housekeeping, in operator complaints, and in material that actually gets into the batch.
The trade-off is dissolution speed. Flake takes longer to go into solution than powder. In a plant with a proper agitator and a normal batch cycle that is irrelevant; if you need something in solution in two minutes with a paddle, buy the powder.
Potassium Humate Flakes is the grade most of our export customers settle on: same analysis as the powder, considerably nicer to live with.

Form: black flakes, 2–4 mm, with a slight sheen. Hard, brittle, essentially dust-free. Breaks down under agitation in water rather than dissolving instantly.
In water: fully soluble, but slower than the powder — typically several minutes under good agitation, longer in cold water. Add under agitation, and if your cycle is short, either pre-dissolve in a side tank or use warm water.
Handling: the reason to buy this grade. No dust, clean pouring, accurate dosing. A noticeable improvement over powder for anyone working through bags by hand or on a line without dust extraction.
pH: alkaline at 9.0–10.0. Check compatibility before blending into acidic formulations or liquid phosphate.

Soluble grades (powder, flakes, crystal) dissolve for fertigation, foliar and liquid production. Granular grades (compacted, round) are built for soil placement, blending and mechanised sowing. Every grade ships with a batch COA and the same heavy-metal declaration (Pb, As, Hg, Cd, Cr below detection, GB 18877).

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, ventilated place, sealed and off bare concrete. The flake is less hygroscopic than the powder and therefore more tolerant of a humid warehouse, but it will still pick up moisture if left open. Under dry conditions it stores for years without losing solubility or analysis. It may soften slightly at the surface of a bag in very humid conditions, which does not affect the product. Shelf life: 24 months in original, unopened packaging.

Prefers flake because the overnight soak gives complete dissolution by morning with no undissolved residue reaching the filters — the powder went into solution faster but formed lumps that their filtration caught.

Frequently Asked Questions
Flake or powder — which should I buy?
Buy flake if handling matters: dust, dosing accuracy, working conditions. Buy powder if dissolution speed is the binding constraint — a short batch cycle or no pre-dissolving stage. The analysis is essentially the same, so this is a process decision rather than an agronomic one. Tell us your cycle time and how you dose and we will recommend one.
How long does it take to dissolve?
Several minutes under good agitation, longer in cold water and longer at high concentration. For a plant with a normal batch cycle this is a non-issue. If you need full dissolution in a couple of minutes, pre-dissolve in a side tank at higher concentration, or use the powder grade.
Is it the same specification as the powder?
Very close: 60% minimum humic acid in both, with flake at 10–12% K₂O against the powder’s 10% minimum. Both are 100% soluble. The difference is physical form and the handling that goes with it, not the chemistry.
Can I spread it dry on the field?
Yes, but it is not the most economical route — you are paying for solubility you only use once the flake meets soil moisture. It works well applied ahead of irrigation or rainfall. If you are applying dry and never dissolving, the insoluble humic acid granule is considerably cheaper per tonne for the same soil job.
Will the flake break down into dust in the bag?
No. The flake is hard and brittle but holds together under normal handling and transport. Some fines at the bottom of a bag after a long journey is normal and does not indicate a problem — it dissolves exactly the same way.
