Potassium Humate Big Shiny Flakes
The Highest Organic Matter Soluble Grade — and It Looks It
2–4 mm lustrous flake · 50% humic acid · 80% organic matter · 10–12% K₂O · 100% soluble
Product Overview
Potassium Humate Big Shiny Flakes is the grade built around organic matter: 80% minimum, the highest figure in our soluble range, alongside 50% minimum humic acid and 10–12% K₂O, all fully water soluble in a lustrous 2–4 mm flake.
That 80% organic matter figure is the reason to specify this grade. If your market, your registration or your label claim is built on organic matter content rather than humic acid content — which is the case across much of the organic input sector — this is the most efficient way to hit the number. Compared with a 60%-humic grade carrying 70% organic matter, you get more of the thing you are claiming for the same inclusion rate.
The second reason is the same as for our crystal grade: it looks like a premium product. Large, glossy black flakes with a strong sheen, in a size band that reads well in a retail bag and dissolves cleanly in a demonstration jar.
Where the humic acid percentage is the binding constraint rather than organic matter, our standard flakes at 60% humic acid are the better value. Potassium Humate Big Shiny Flakes is for organic-matter-led specifications and for products that are judged on sight.
Key Benefits
80% minimum organic matter
The highest organic matter figure in our soluble range. If your claim, registration or market measures organic matter, this is the most efficient grade for hitting it.
Fully water soluble despite the high organic content
100% soluble with no residue — unusual at this level of organic matter. Suitable for fertigation and liquid production as well as dry application.
Distinctive large, glossy flake
Strong visual appeal in retail packs and demonstration. The lustre is natural to the process, not a surface treatment, so it survives handling and dissolution.
10–12% K₂O alongside the humic fraction
A genuine potassium contribution on top of the organic and humic content.
Clean, low-dust handling at 2–4 mm
Large flake pours cleanly with no dust, and does not degrade into fines in transit.
Works across fertigation, liquid and dry routes
Fully soluble for liquid use, but substantial enough to handle as a dry material. One grade, several routes to market.

Form: large black flakes, 2–4 mm, with a pronounced natural sheen. Flat, irregular, hard and clean-handling.
In water: fully soluble, with no residue despite the high organic matter content. Dissolves under agitation, faster in warm water.
Handling: the large flake size gives clean pouring and no dust. The flakes are hard and do not break down into fines in the bag.
Appearance: the strongest visual impact in the soluble range after the crystal grade. Large, glossy, uniform — reads as a premium input in a retail pack.

| Sodium-Free Potassium Humate | Flake or powder | 65% min | 15% min | 100% | Hydroponics, closed loops, saline–sodic soil |
| Potassium Humate Shiny Crystal | 1–2 / 2–4 mm crystal | 65% min | 10% min | 97% min | Premium soluble grades, retail packing |
| Big Shiny Flakes (this product) | 2–4 mm shiny flake | 50% min | 10–12% | 100% | Retail bagged product, visual premium grades |
| Compacted Granules | 2–4 mm oval granule | 40% min | 2–5% | 80% min | Base fertilizer, blending, broadcasting |
| Round Granule | 2–4 mm round granule | 40% min | 2–5% | 80% min | Base fertilizer, mechanised sowing |
Soluble grades (powder, flakes, crystal) dissolve for fertigation, foliar and liquid production. Granular grades (compacted, round) are built for soil placement, blending and mechanised sowing. Every grade ships with a batch COA and the same heavy-metal declaration (Pb, As, Hg, Cd, Cr below detection, GB 18877).
Applications & Dosage
Specified for organic-matter-led products and for retail presentation:
| Application | How to use | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Organic-matter-claim formulations | Use where the label claim or registration is built on organic matter content. | 10–30% of formulation |
| Retail bagged product | Pack into retail bags where the material is visible and presentation matters. | per pack size |
| Fertigation and drip | Dissolve and inject. Fully soluble with no residue. | 3–6 kg/ha per application |
| Liquid fertilizer production | Dissolve into liquid NPK or suspension formulations. | 5–15% of formulation |
| Broadcast with irrigation | Apply dry ahead of irrigation; the flake dissolves in soil moisture. | 20–40 kg/ha |
| Distributor demonstration | Clean, complete dissolution with strong visual appeal. | per requirement |
Packaging & Storage
| Pack size | Description |
|---|---|
| 1 kg / 5 kg / 10 kg | Printed aluminium foil bag — retail and sample size |
| 20 kg / 25 kg | Woven PP bag with inner PE liner — standard export packing |
| 1000–1100 kg | Jumbo bag with discharge spout, 4 lifting loops |
| Custom | Private-label printed bag, OEM specification, retail sizes on request |
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, ventilated place, sealed and off bare concrete. The flake is less hygroscopic than a powder but will still absorb moisture if left open in humid air. Under dry conditions it stores for years without loss of appearance, analysis or solubility. Shelf life: 24 months in original, unopened packaging.
Custom packaging, private-label printing and OEM specifications are available on request. Packaging photos are available in the product gallery.
Successful Cases
Organic input brand, EU
Formulates a bagged organic soil improver where the registered claim is organic matter content rather than humic acid. At 80% organic matter this grade let them hit the claim at a lower inclusion rate than any other soluble humate they tested, which improved both their cost and the physical quality of the blend.

Packs into clear retail bags for the garden and smallholder market. The buyer’s reasoning was straightforward: customers see the product before they buy it, and a large glossy flake outsells a matte powder at the same price point. Reorders consistently.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is humic acid only 50% when other grades are 60%?
Because this grade is optimised for organic matter rather than humic acid — you cannot maximise both simultaneously from the same material. At 80% organic matter it is the most efficient way to hit an organic-matter claim. If humic acid percentage is what you are held to, our standard flakes at 60% are better value and we will recommend them.
Is 80% organic matter unusual?
It is high for a fully soluble grade. Most soluble humates sit around 60–70% organic matter because the solubilisation process and the raw material selection favour humic acid concentration. Reaching 80% while staying 100% soluble requires both a richer feedstock and tighter process control, which is reflected in the price.
Can I use it through drip irrigation?
Yes. It is 100% soluble with no residue, so it is suitable for drip and micro-systems at correct dilution. Dissolve fully in a stock tank and filter as normal practice.
How does it compare with the Shiny Crystal grade?
Crystal is higher in humic acid (65% against 50%) and lower in moisture, and is the choice when humic acid content or a dense crystal appearance is the priority. Big Shiny Flakes lead on organic matter (80% against a lower figure) and give a larger, flatter, flake-style appearance. If your claim is humic acid, buy crystal; if it is organic matter, buy this.
Is the sheen a coating?
No. It is produced by the process conditions and the crystal structure of the material, not by any surface treatment. It survives handling and remains visible as the flake dissolves, which is not the case with surface-treated products.
