Product Overview

Compacted Potassium Humate Granules are produced by roller compaction — the dry powder is passed between counter-rotating rolls under high pressure and the resulting sheet is broken and screened to a uniform 2–4 mm oval granule.

The distinguishing feature of roller compaction is that it is a dry process with no binder and no drying stage. Nothing is added to make the granule hold together; it holds together because the material has been compressed. Two practical consequences follow. The granule is hard and dense, so it survives bagging, blending, conveying and spreading without generating fines. And because nothing inert has been added, the analysis stays at 40% minimum humic acid with 2–5% K₂O and 80% minimum solubility.

The oval shape is worth noting too. It is not a sphere, and that is deliberate: the flat faces of a compacted granule give it better contact and mechanical interlock in a blend, which reduces the rolling and segregation you get with perfectly round particles during transport.

Compacted Potassium Humate Granules is the grade for base fertilizer application — drilled or broadcast ahead of or at sowing — and for blending with granular NPK.

Form & Solubility

Form: uniform 2–4 mm black oval granules produced by roller compaction. Dense, hard, with slightly flattened faces from the compaction rolls. Dust-free.

In water: 80% minimum soluble. The granule breaks down and releases most of its humic fraction, leaving a small insoluble residue. Dissolve and filter if you are putting it through a fine system — but this is a soil-application grade, and that is where it is used.

Hardness: higher than a wet-granulated or disc-granulated particle. It survives mechanical handling well.

In the blender: the oval shape is an advantage here. It interlocks with granular NPK rather than rolling free, so the blend stays homogeneous through transport.

Honest note: this is a soil-application grade, not a dissolving grade. At 80% solubility it is built for drilling, broadcasting and blending — the humic fraction releases into soil moisture over time. If your route to the crop is a tank and an emitter, use a fully soluble powder or flake instead. Avoid direct contact with seed when drilling: the material is alkaline and concentrated humate next to seed can affect germination.

Storage: Store under cover in a cool, dry, ventilated place, on pallets and off bare concrete. The compacted granule is dense and low in surface area, so it stores well and resists moisture uptake better than a wet-granulated product. Sustained wetting will still soften and consolidate the granules, so keep it dry. Under cover the material is stable for years. Shelf life: 24 months in original, unopened packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is roller compaction different from disc granulation?

Roller compaction is dry and uses no binder: powder is pressed between rolls into a sheet, then broken and screened. Disc granulation is a wet process using a binder and a rotating pan, then drying. Compaction gives a harder, denser, oval particle with nothing added; disc granulation gives a rounder, softer particle. Both are legitimate — compaction suits hard handling and blending, disc granulation suits a rounder, more uniform appearance.

Why oval rather than round?

It is a consequence of the process rather than a design choice, but it has a real advantage: the flat faces interlock in a blend instead of rolling freely, so the material stays distributed during transport. If you want a genuinely spherical granule for appearance, look at our Round Granule grade.

Can I use this through drip irrigation?

It can be dissolved, diluted 500–800 times and applied by root irrigation after filtering — that is a listed application. It is not the grade to choose if your main route is fertigation through fine emitters; a fully soluble powder or flake is better suited and will not risk blocking.

What is the difference between this and Potassium Humate Round Granule?

Both are 2–4 mm at 40% humic acid, 2–5% K₂O and 80% solubility. Compacted is roller-compacted into an oval, binder-free, harder granule — better for hard handling and blending. Round Granule is a disc-granulated, genuinely spherical particle — better where roundness and uniformity of appearance matter. On specification they are close; choose on process and presentation.

Will it damage seed if drilled with it?

Avoid direct contact. Drill so that the granule is mixed into soil at 10–15 cm depth rather than placed directly with the seed. The material is alkaline at pH 9.0–10.0 and concentrated humate in direct contact with seed can affect germination — standard practice for any humic base fertilizer.
