Product Overview

Mineral Source Potassium Fulvate Type II is extracted from leonardite, a young oxidized lignite rich in humic substances. It occupies a different point on the extraction spectrum from our Type I line: higher total humic acid (55% min), moderate fulvic acid (30% min), and a more accessible price per tonne. Same mine. Different balance.

Sodium-Free Potassium Fulvate Flakes II is the custom-manufactured, sodium-free variant of our Type II flake line. Produced on a potassium-only extraction route (no sodium hydroxide in the alkali blend), it carries zero added sodium alongside the strongest potassium content in the Type II family: 15% K₂O minimum (against 10% in the standard Type II grades).

The numbers tell the story: 30% fulvic acid, 55% humic acid, 15% K₂O, 99% soluble, and sodium reports available on request. This is the grade you specify when sodium accumulation is a known risk — hydroponics, recirculating glasshouse systems, sodic/saline soils, and sodium-sensitive cultivars (certain berry varieties, avocados, young tree seedlings).

Like our Type I Sodium-Free, this is a made-to-order grade produced to campaign. Minimum quantities and lead times depend on current production scheduling — share your programme details and we’ll give you firm numbers.

Key Benefits

No sodium. Period.

Manufactured on a potassium-only extraction route. No sodium introduced in production. Sodium-content test reports available for programmes that require documented verification.

15% K₂O — highest in the Type II line

Because there’s no sodium competing for exchange sites, the potassium assay lands at 15% minimum. That’s 50% more K₂O than the standard Type II flakes (10%).

Safe for closed systems

In recirculating hydroponics and closed-loop glasshouses, sodium accumulates because there’s no leaching route. This grade lets you run a humic programme without adding to the sodium load.

Suited to saline and sodic soil reclamation

Adds humic/fulvic acid and potassium simultaneously without worsening an existing sodium problem. Pair with gypsum and a leaching programme for reclamation projects.

Form & Solubility

Form: glossy black flakes, 2–3 mm — visually similar to standard Type II Flakes II, but distinguishable under close inspection by a slightly deeper luster (the potassium-only route produces a shinier fracture surface).

In water: 99% soluble. The higher potassium loading actually helps it wet out marginally faster than the standard 10% K₂O grade. Same rule applies: agitate while dissolving. Pre-dissolve in a side tank, keep the stirrer running, then filter into the system.

Handling: identical to standard Type II Flakes II — near-zero dust, free-flowing, hopper-friendly.

Honest note: the sodium-free route costs more, so we only recommend it where sodium actually hurts: closed irrigation loops, hydroponic tanks, and saline-sodic soils. On open-field broadacre with plenty of leaching, standard Flakes II does the same job for less money.

Type I grades (Powder I, Flakes I, Micro Granule I, Extruded Granules I, Sodium-Free Flakes I) run 50–55% fulvic acid with 50% humic acid — see the Type I range if fulvic acid content is your buying criterion.

Applications & Dosage

This grade exists for programmes where sodium is not just undesirable — it’s a dealbreaker:

ApplicationHow to useRate
Hydroponics / recirculating systemsAdd to nutrient solution without accumulating sodium in the recirculating reservoir.20–50 ppm in solution
Sodic / saline soil reclamationCombine with gypsum application. Adds K⁺ and humic substances without Na⁺.5–10 kg/ha per application
Sodium-sensitive crops (berries, avocados, stone fruit)Foliar or fertigation programmes where even low-level sodium buildup causes tip burn or growth retardation.per standard programme
Premium liquid fertilizer (sodium-free label claim)For formulations marketed as ‘low-sodium’ or ‘sodium-free’ to meet specific market requirements.3–8% of formulation

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it completely sodium free, or just low sodium?

It is manufactured on a potassium-only extraction route, so no sodium is introduced during production. Residual sodium from the raw leonardite is typically below detection limits. If your programme requires a documented sodium figure with a specific method (ICP-OES, flame photometry), tell us at enquiry stage and we’ll arrange testing.

How does this compare to Type I Sodium-Free?

Type I Sodium-Free: 50% fulvic / 50% humic / 15% K₂O (higher fulvic, same K₂O). Type II Sodium-Free: 30% fulvic / 55% humic / 15% K₂O (higher humic, same K₂O, typically lower price). Choose Type I if you need maximum fulvic activity; choose Type II if you want more humic acid per dollar and can accept lower fulvic content.

Is it worth the premium over standard Type II Flakes II?

Only if sodium is a real constraint in your programme. If you’re broadcasting to open field soil with good drainage and non-sensitive crops, standard Type II Flakes II (with its normal trace sodium) is the better value — same agronomy, lower cost, usually in stock.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

Made to order on a production campaign. MOQ and lead time depend on current scheduling — share your required volume and delivery window, and we’ll quote firm numbers. Typically 15–25 days ex-works after order confirmation.
